Ariana Richards

Maria Magdalena,
1480, Carlo Crivelli
If you remember her at all, this is what you remember, Alexis Murphy, the terrified child star of the blockbuster Stephen Spielberg film, Jurassic Park (above). That was in 1993. Ariana Richards was thirteen. Born in 1979, today (2017) she is thirty-eight years old. And although she still does some acting when the mood strikes and a good script comes along, today she is an award-winning portrait artist. After filming Jurassic Park, Ariana completed a BS Degree from Skidmore College, New York, where she graduated with honors in Drama and Art. She has since become one of the most celebrated young portrait artists of our time. Art has long been a tradition in her family. Her own genealogy can be traced back to the early Italian Renaissance to the religious art painter, Carlo Crivelli (right), a contemporary of Botticelli. Ariana's on-going work shows the classical influence of the Old Masters, along with the dynamics of Impres-sionist art.

Some say talented people are talented at everything, a theory which may be proven by this talented movie actress and professional painter.

Ariana continued her studies at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and has been mentored by some of the finest names in Contemporary Impressionism. She draws inspiration from historic painters such as John Singer Sargent, Anders Zorn, Mary Cassatt, and Joaquin Sorolla. Dozens of media interviewers have speculated as to what Ariana could possibly do as a follow-up to her film career? She hasn’t disappointed them. Already she has become known among her collectors for her evocative figures and landscapes.

Lady of the Dahlias, 2005, Ariana Richards
Most of Ariana's paintings are landscapes and portraits. In October 2005, she won first prize in the National Professional Oil Painting Competition (sponsored by American Artist magazine) by presenting to the jury her painting Lady of the Dahlias (above). Richards married Mark Bolton in 2013; the couple have one child. She divides her time between her art studio locations in the United States, South America, and Western Europe, where she travels with her family. Ariana is also a sponsor of young gifted musical composers through the CFCO foundation and publishing company.

Whether she's working on a busy soundstage; spending time with her horse, Kindred Spirit (above, top); or quietly painting in her studio; Ariana Richards is one of the most accomplished young artists of her generation.
